  • Esther Rantzen R.I.P.

The timing could not be more stark in the passing of Esther Rantzen from a terminal illness, and the killing of the Assisted Dying Bill by Parliament and the House of Lords. An organism needs food and water to survive, a network of similar, shelter, and a necessary environment for its specifies, whether woodland or moorland or seashore or marsh or high rocky mountain. A government to govern maintains the laws, and the laws are about governance and exist in an environment of jurisprudence. The small Parliaments of Jersey and the Isle of Man know how to biologically make and live their laws, with jurisprudence linking daily reality with a legal entity. Never did the House of Lords or more recently Parliament invite Esther Rantzen to come and help formulate the process, despite fete-ing her in the other areas of her life. The picking and choosing of ‘UK’ politics takes it apart from the natural world and the cart veers into the ditch.
