  • Don’t bite the hand that funds you – at any price…

Collapse of the Chinese spy case at the highest level in the UK

Firstly the referencing. The phrase ‘Don’t bite the hand that funds you’ comes from one chapter of a book in the 1990s when this human was a low-key journalist and the book was to be reviewed. The title of the book could not be found but the title has stuck in its head since then as being clever, one of those phrases which dances this way and that, obviously from ‘don’t bite the hand that feeds you,’ and yet – and yet – saying so much more. Feeding is physical food. Funding is a whole different zone, and to be advised to not bite that hand that funds, well, the zone merely increases in complexity. This blog has added the phrase – at any price… And in this cut and paste world, here the referencing is made to best of ability, and intention does still speak for itself.

So if the above phrase was applied to events in the last few days in the ‘UK’, where a case against two men suspected of spying for China was ready for action by the CPS, the Home Office and MI5, all the background preparation in place and in big legal cases that means a lot of work and a lot of documentation yet in the reverse of the straw that broke the camels back, the highest governing power in the land (of the ‘UK’) refused to tick the box to set the case rolling.

This blog is interested in how humans organise themselves, how their societies are structured under the simple fact of Helios, Earth and gravity, with the requirement of food, water and shelter for survival. “Friend or foe?” until recently (and the last 50 or 100 years are a mere blink of time) used to be clear, or easy to determine after just a few steps, and the status would be measured from within a perimeter of governance. The jurisdiction of the territory was clear, and the jurisdiction of the surrounding and further territories also a clear definition. “Friend or foe?” would be towards a viable entity, whether a person or a society. Viable in biology means living, viable in the English language means something a bit different.

This last week could not be a clearer portrayal of the abysmal state of affairs in the ‘UK’ of 2025. The office of the Prime Minister as the highest point in government/governance was the one in this case who collapsed the dominoes back down the line, yet a high level legal case involving state security and the implications of international espionage would be expected to have all the force of every power in the land to keep that exterior strong.

Probably not much food comes from China, apart from the eons old trade of real food for real Chinese people, and the now millions of Chinese students in the major (and minor) universities, all of whom are seen to be carefully shopping, communicating in their own language, usually Mandarin, cooking together, and taking their studies very seriously. In the city centres of London, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Manchester… the Chinese supermarkets are full of goods a Chinese person knows how to use. And the Chinese takeaways, they are still an integrated part of many cities and towns. So that is food from China, but apart from that, fresh food is not really a big commodity coming into the ‘UK’. Not like the fruit and vegetables and so much else arriving from many parts of the world, using their water, disrupting the networks, even New Zealand is turning over its land to grow more vines for wine, to transport the heavy bottles all the way to the ‘UK.’

That is why the phrase, ‘Don’t bite the hand that funds you,’ which as said earlier came from a book chapter in the 1990s, just says it all. If like a biological dye which is tracked through veins and arteries the finance originating from China was run through the manufacturing, university, utilities, technology, household consumer, medical and scientific networks in the ‘UK’ how would it be possible to make one clear statement that ‘China is a threat’? A threat to what? A threat to national security requires a clear recipient and there is none.

In a strange contortion of reality, the case collapse of the last week appears as an inversion of the principles of survival. A threat to the national survival and security of societal existence would be if the entire Chinese network of finance in the ‘UK’ disappeared. The cost of biting that Chinese hand which funds us is not even contemplatable because there is now no way of asking who is friend and who is foe. It would be more honest of the Prime Minister if he declared the ‘UK’ a vassal state of China. The Treaty of Nanking was only in 1842, a mere 180 or so years ago, when clear lines of ethnicity, national governments, climatic zones, culture and language were taken as the baseline of human societies, and power of governments showed as a very clear line, as the Chinese government well remember after the imposed Treaties by the British and the French (and the French).

What a bizarre state of affairs this is in 2025.

  • Autism: The Debate over Diagnosis

Autism is in the headlines again, as it does periodically, and alas always from the negative viewpoint. A viewpoint is the point of view of the opinionator, and the point from which it is viewed is the opinion itself. The opionator directs its opinion at the subject, which in this case is autism – again.

It was President Trump, who so often speaks so much common sense, cuts to the point, sets the ball rolling, puts it up in the air and for so often most people to say, well, there is some truth in that. And as this blog is interested in the measurement of anything and everything to the baseline facts – which are Helios, Earth, gravity, and the tiny life zone around our spinning planet – the matter of societal leadership of life forms within this life zone is of great interest to this writer. However, it was President Trump who last week spoke of the problem of the increasing rate of an autism diagnosis.

Yes, it is a fact that the rate of diagnoses have increased exponentially, in both the USA and the ‘UK’. However, just an elemental kind of analysis of this must ask the basic question of is it that more and more people are ‘catching’ autism, this awful disease as described by those whose viewpoint is that autism is entirely negative? If so, then the cause for this change must be found, as believed by those people, and negated, so as to avoid people getting autism, or coming out of the womb as autistic, when they wouldn’t have been before. It has been a long time that people have been looking for the cure to make sure these odd people don’t hold back society any longer in its rush to the promised nirvana. Autistic people are not much fun to be around, don’t see the point of selfies, and don’t contribute much to the economy in pointless Valentine merchandise and daily takeaway pizzas. So far no cure, only the reverse apparently, more and more people ‘are getting autism’.

Taking a different viewpoint, looking from a different perspective, and putting this question back into the fundamental facts of human society living in the life zone which is the tiny, tiny little space around Earth, which is governed by Helios and gravity, then it is a valid question to ask how do we know there are more people ‘catching autism’, and that it isn’t more a question of societal changes? When a landslide happens, the topography changes and the habitat is not as before, and many many lives are disrupted – from earthworms to birds to snails to mammals to bacteria, to water life, and of course the humans. If a river dries up, on which societies of humans and other life forms depended for centuries, all along a long length from source to estuary, then there is huge disruption of normal societal balances, much crisis and stress, and the disruption is apparent because of the loss of the underpinning of existence.

What if the same principles are put into the last few decades of western civilization which in this case is the Protestant (in the general sense) band of the ‘UK’ and the USA, not the Catholic countries of Iberia, Gaul, underneath the Germanic countries, into Poland and eastern Europe, and back around Italy and the Mediterranean islands? This increased rate of diagnosis in the ‘UK’ and the USA is the subject of this debate, all from the point of view that it shows a problem going on, which must be found, eradicated, and then the autistic people will also disappear. What if the problem turned round and asked the societies and government, why is it taking away the habitat of the autistic folks? This is using autism in the general sense, not the difference between us autistics and the Aspergers, who call themselves Aspies and get on well together, have different motor skills, often say they feel lonely, and gravitate towards social integration. We all have great difficulty with sensory overload, and a few other similarities, so this post doesn’t need to turn into a 5,000 word essay on the difference between Aspies and us autistics.

Even to a few decades ago there was a rich habitat for autistic people, healthy biodiversity in society, civic life, libraries, education, real science with eyes and brain before the data age, small scale railways, government at regional council and national level, even after Tony Blair introduced the not at all thought out devolution of parliaments to various parts of the ‘UK’ there was a healthy habitat for autistic people. Turning that round, it can be said as pretty much a fact, that a healthy society depends on people who care about systems, structure, well regulated organisations, that children have access to informative projects in libraries, that civil servants work without ego but just doing the job of regulating and enabling and checking, and that those who have a particular ability and aptitude in certain areas are pointed in that direction and left to it, without being in a petri dish of researchers and data. It used to be such, and the point is that it really did. The autistic people were seamlessly woven into the fabric of society, and even if people would think they were just a bit odd in the lack of social flair and desire for self publicity, even then it would not be anything like a problem to society itself, because most autistic people were very useful in society.

Now the fabric of society has been collapsed, the autistic children who would once have had shelves of books, musical instruments, steady careers as a clerk or a piano tuner or a librarian or a teacher (of certain subjects) or the reliable council worker or the so many other aspects of a society, now have only a strange world of schools built of modern materials which bang and echo, no windows that open, chaotic lessons where most are on their smartphones, flipping through images which autistic people just don’t get, modern lighting which really, really hurts our eyes, and a relentless focus on the emotional, the wellbeing, the individual experience, which for us autistics is a real nightmare and panic, because we simply do not put ourselves forward like that. So, instead of asking why is autism on the increase, why not ask why is society causing so much stress to autistic people? Maybe it is the stress that is being diagnosed, not a diagnosis ‘finding a new autistic person.’?

So, if President Trump wants to lessen, or eradicate the problem of autism, the simplest way of all would be to put back all the facets of society in which autistic people thrive, and often underpin in their reliability. If real books, real building of stone or wood, real food, real lighting of minimal and old fashioned light bulbs, and windows that open were introduced into all towns and cities, and the strange obsession with individual feelings and expression and being respected was just quietly shelved, then maybe the ‘new’ autistic children would soon be part of the natural habitat, in our often genetic lines of autism and which was able to contribute so very much to society in the past. From the viewpoint of humans functioning in the life zone, on Earth, the function of the autistic is really really necessary, and as the litmus test of a healthy society for all, to mark it on the autistic line of functioning, well, just how much stress would that reduce for the rest of society as well? Probably a lot.

  • The Vexed Question of Vexillology – Part 2

    What is a flag?

It is an easy question. It is a piece of fabric, usually rectangular, somewhere in the scale of 18ins to 4 feet long so in the scale of Earth this is really tiny, and attached to the top of a pole. If it was just the fabric without the pole, and people ran around with them, it would not be called a flag. If the fabric rectangle was stuck up on a fence or a doorway, it would be called a banner. And if it was a long rectangle and carried by several people along a routeway, it would still be called a banner.

Still a flag is not just a piece of fabric on a pole. It has to have both those, but it is the fabric which defines what the flag is. Now the word can be used as in ‘flagging someone down’ when someone waves their arm at the side of the road, and the car stops. Or, ‘flagging it up,’ when we need to highlight something, pull it out and get it into focus, and usually means that there’s a problem, great or small, but in this way of usage it is something that needs flagging up, it needs some attention, through to need for fixing a problem before it becomes really apparent.

A flag, the object itself, is all about the fabric – not the fabric of linen, silk, cotton, though that is necessary because it isn’t possible to make a flag of wool, you don’t knit flags, but the reason for the flag. The flag is sending a message, stating facts, defining and demarcating, in about the most precise and specific way, which is why they are flags. Even more profound, the physical symbol of the flag – which is both pole and fabric – speaks its message either by a blank colour, like white or red, or by a vast array of different images and colour arrangements.

So, a flag is a micro of a macro, but as in all alignments and axes (plural of axis), there’s no pick ‘n’ mix, no mix and match, no one size fits all. Oh no. A flag is a micro of a clearly defined realm, and the entirety of that macro fits perfectly into the few feet of fabric on a pole.

  • The Vexed Question of Vexillology – Part 1

Or, the reasons, rationale and reappearance of flags in the ‘UK’.

As 2025 has unfolded, so have many flags, or the word is probably unfurled for a flag, but however it is said, flags have reappeared in 2025 as centre stage. Vexillology is big, but not many folks would know the word, but everybody knows what a flag is.

This blog, being written by an autistic human, of course in the network of autistic humans there is now and again a human will know every single flag of the world and can prove that within a few seconds, but possibly the identification of flags does not come under Vexillology as such, or maybe forms a subsection of its own within the overall subject area of Vexillology.

In observing this increasing appearance of flags in the ‘UK’ in 2025, and as this blog is written entirely from the measurement of Helios to Earth to gravity, this reappearance of such physical statements raises so many curious angles. Is there a word of Vexillolosophy? Probably not, but the philosophy of the study of the history and societal position of flags is not really allowed to be discussed in these modern times, and is that because it links back through the jurisdiction of borders, through religion, conflicts, definition, and all of those do ultimately link back, whatever the viewpoint (point-of-view has to link back also to physical) of the human in these multitude of social, political, religious, global, technological and science fictional beliefs in the public realm of today.

  • The Logical Cycle of Seasons

Last week in a medium sized shop in the mid latitudes of the British Isles, a human checked along the signs hanging above the aisles, and headed into Seasonal Aisle to buy some wooden fence protector. Imagine the surprise when that aisle contained nothing but chocolate, piled high and low and deep, and in so many boxes and packets and bags and specially made little houses and really eye catching words, designs, colours, bits of glitter, but basically the same ingredients of cocoa mass, cocoa butter, sugar, and milk, give or take a few boxes of dark. And of course, the Season is Christmas.

Last week was August, today the month turns to September, and for us pagans who notice such things, the Autumn Equinox, Alban Elfed, is still three weeks away. Christmas, which does not exist in either Earth, Helios, or the natural world, but certainly does in the western world for the last two thousand years, is still another three calendar months after that, neatly slotted into that most profound time of year when the tiny baby Light of Helios is born again. From today, the seasonal food now taking up a lot of space in all medium to large supermarket type shops in the UK is for a date about four months away = one third of a solar year. That’s a long time.

Outside in the still evidence natural world, the blackberries are large and sweet in sunny patches, and many many more ripening to be there for the picking over the next few weeks. Those who know their mushrooms know what this time of year brings, this human only trusts knowledge of a puffball but there are the mycophagists who know what and where to pick in this liminal seasonal zone where the beautiful and bountiful harvest is given. Nuts and berries, and all the cultivated fruit and vegetables of this climatic zone, and which once upon a time would have been a very busy time of preserving and stewing and pie making and jam making and sloe gin pricking and the primitive pleasure of eating a ripe fruit or vegetable straight off the stalk.

The market, still so much a part of society in much of Europe and especially the Catholic regions of ‘the west’ where supermarkets are still pretty much unchanged over the last few decades appear to exist only to provide what the market really cannot, while the real food goes on in those markets where real food meets real people. Solar time is the definer, the regulator, the arbiter, and like a dial around reality, the market revolves throughout the year, and the work of local producers forms a seamless process through the markets and into the homes of humans who delight in that correlation with ultimately Solar time.

If the government in the ‘UK’ thought about rebalancing the fragmented links between humans and Earth, and from there of food and water, it could pass a law to say every retail outlet apart from the very small, would have a Seasonal aisle, 365 days a year, with local suppliers all having a little stall, like a real old covered market in the fine towns of the mid latitudes, and which are closing year on year, no trolleys allowed down that aisle because there wouldn’t be room, and money paid directly, in cash, to each producer.

Farmers markets we have, and unfortunately have become something of a lifestyle symbol, unfortunate as those rows of stalls really do reflect Solar time, while most just load a trolley in the supermarkets and never would visit a farmers market for all sorts of reasons. If the government mandated, passed a supermarket law, requiring one aisle as a local seasonal produce, with the stall holders paying something to overheads but only a small part because they are not part of the supply chain or fraught relations with their suppliers, because they are the suppliers of their own goods.

Then the seasonal aisle of last week, in August, to encourage a four month buying binge on chocolate before the event of Christmas, would have to rename itself because the real seasonal would be the line up of local produce. It’s a strange situation in the ‘UK’ because to put up a sign saying Christmas aisle in August would have customers startled at the incongruity, even exclaiming Christmas just gets earlier every year, yet that is what it is.

Solar time has no guises, nature has no way of doing anything other than what it is and for the purpose of the life force itself. To be inside the seasons of Helios and completely sustained, or outside in the shiny wrappings of western time, Halloween horrors soon to come, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, summer alcohol discounts, before Christmas appears again, will there be a government able to bridge this existential gap.

  • Wars on the World Stage

The many wars and many opinionators in 2025 CE on the World Stage

In this month of August 2025 there are so many wars going on in the human world that most of them do not make the BBC headlines anymore, although from the position in geo-graphy, events are always real, whether or not the press of the world is there.

Within the life zone, that tiny weeny little slither of habitable life around the mass of Earth, as it spins on its own axis around the Sun, which is the giver of all the fundamentals of our existence, which are an earth to live on, held in place by gravity, and the Light which activates life itself, within the life zone, the organisms which still adhere to logic are also at war. Every living being defends its territory, fights to the death if necessary over food and water, and to protect its next generation, and eats from the same world it inhabits, thereby squaring the circle and not doing any damage at all to the overall balance of survival for the life zone as a whole. Apart from the business of eating from within the allotted parameters, which involves all parts of the food chain consuming living beings, and even grass although not itself a consumer of organisms is still within the vast and extraordinary interplay going on, even if in such reduced circumstances because of the human activity, the natural world consumes and is consumed all within its allotted radius. An eagle will cover more miles (the right kind of air miles) than a snail, but it all makes sense when the focus is taken back into the overview. As every living being needs somewhere to be that life, place is so obviously a part of the equation that it doesn’t even need to be said. And the more complex the being, the more the word territory is applicable, because territory is different to habitat – habiter in French, and habitation as being more the place itself.

The word territory is not habitat and territory probably once was also from the French, terroir, maybe, this writer is not a linguist but does speak reasonable French and its surprising just how many words have lost their real meaning when entering the realm of English. But back to territory in the western civilization meaning, and territory comes with the reality of a jurisdiction which stops at the edge of that territory, in law, culture, language, still a general ethnicity, yes we can say that even today, and definitely an element of defence, because the next territory is exactly that, a different territory. That is about as normal as could be isn’t it, even with the strange development of human society over the last few thousand years.

Something stood out strange and clear this week as the two major wars going on in August 2025 – Gaza/Israel and Russia/Ukraine – have been in great detail in world news. A few days ago France became the first G7 country to speak of recognising a/the state of Palestine. The ‘UK’, which supplies weapons to Israel and says its needs the income and jobs that creates, got a surprise and joined the debate, like many other countries did. The ancient lands of the eastern Mediterranean are long lost in how geo-graphy would mark out human societies, and now these lands are under the gaze of the modern media. The same week has the Russia/Ukraine events under the spotlight of talks and leaders travelling and discussing, with again no clear questions or answers, just as no regional war has any clear sense when run through the global opinions. The occupation of Eire is long forgotten, and these two big conflict areas stand in giant testimony to western politics of the C.21.

The writing of Gaza/Israel was deliberate rather than Israel on Gaza, because in these two current public conflicts, it was the action of Hamas taking the hostages which begun this intense and disastrous conflict, and some of those hostages are still under the capture of Hamas. Russia/Ukraine likewise, Russia did invade Ukraine, with one reason given to protect the Russian humans in the Donbas. The volume and heated opinions of humans around the western world on these two conflicts shows something quite illogical about actual war, in which humans naturally engage, just as does every other active life force, for natural reasons of survival.

The visceral hatred in discussion held far away from both war zones, and by people who have never been and never will be going to those regions, is astonishing. And at a governmental level, the desire to put as right and wrong, the good one and the baddie, has probably come from watching too many films. With the leader of Russia the shorthand for the baddie these days, and paradoxically the Hamas leaders who planned and carried out the taking of Israeli hostages being separated in the western eye from the people themselves of Palestine who are now seen as aggressed by Israel, with the reason for that catastrophic military action lost from significance as people line up on either pro Palestine or pro Israel, and everything brought down to the pure personal impression of seeing such a disastrous chain of events unfold. If instead of recognising the state of Palestine, all the western leaders gathered together and made a collective statement that first the remaining hostages are to be returned to Israel, what would happen? Alas even such a statement shows how un-localised and how un-geo-graphical the human world is these days, as to why the so many wars are also fought in the opinion levels and news reporting levels, as if they themselves were impacted.

If everyone who had an opinion also had to make a brief list of what their interests were, if any, how different would it make the major conflict zones look? If the ‘UK’ government had to list just how many resources are used from Ukraine from electronic parts, auto parts, sunflower oil, and probably so many other just below the surface parts of the crazy global movement of production and now complete dependency. How much of the opinion on a war by a government is actually self protection to ensure its highly unnatural dependency on resources thousands of miles away is not disrupted, otherwise its citizens will be fed up and will not vote them in again next time? When emotion is overlaid by the western powers on who is the victim and who the aggressor, how would it ever be possible to come to a solution when the world stage has become the arena, instead of a geo-graphically defined region in the crisis of war, and which has been a fundamental shaping of human history since the indigenous tribes post the last glacial were gradually replaced by humans measuring further and further away from their logical place on Earth.

  • The logic of leadership and sexuality

In Nicola Sturgeon’s Memoirs, for e.g.

In the past few days radio waves in Scotland have given some air time to discussing the matter of sexuality in the Memoirs of the recent leader of the SNP. The Memoirs are written because Nicola Sturgeon was the leader of Scottish politics, in the utterly chaotic political situation of the ‘UK’ after Tony Blair, it could be argued, did not give quite enough thought to the implications of devolution as being neither here nor there.

Apart from the politics, and apart from police action on SNP finances, the real question being discussed by the airwaves this human heard were really focusing on that question of heterosexual sex between a man and a woman, and homosexual sex, between two women which has been around during Nicola Sturgeon’s leadership. It is quite ironic really that in Scotland, the land of the progressive, individualistic, free thinking, be whatever you want to be, endless opportunities and the funding to find from somewhere – without having to be too specific before the policies are rolled out – and with the existing legal matters going on about what exactly is a woman, why on earth has such a minor question become so publicly important as heterosexual or bisexual? You would think that in these times of intentional blurring of all boundaries that the matter of what is actually quite natural – because it is found in the natural world amongst some animals, and in the recent decades for now both males and females, that such a basic and accepted identity would not raise more than a slight eyebrow.

Of course it would in some hard line religious adherents, and Scotland still has a lot of the kirky folks who are never slow to show the opinion, by look or word, anything other than heterosexual and preferably in a stable marriage is acceptable. And many immigrants of Islamic or the black Christian churches now in the UK are absolutely no go on any variations of the man and woman marriage. But in the modern era Scotland of today, with Glasgow and Edinburgh as the new party places and with the serious legal confusions over bio-logical (logical biology written backwards), why is this matter of the sexuality of Nicola Sturgeon something which required her to address in her Memoir? This writer has not and will not be reading it, but just on the periphery, it is a valid question to ask why this focus on something which was quite a few years ago absorbed into daily life for many.

The fact that the lover was a French female diplomat is only mentioned as an add on, but is this not an illogical way around? The role of a leader is to protect its people, land, resources, ensure a solid perimeter, or it used to be, and although this is not the situation now in the ‘UK’, either internally or externally, a leader still stands in the realm of other leaders, not with us plebians. If the question of the relationship that has been floating around for a while was of a man and woman, would that be seen any differently? The different relationship of Scotland with France in times of olde, with both against England, has been lost in nowadays apart from historical re-enactments and cultural links, while the jurisdictions place Scotland and England in the UK, even with Roman law in Scotland and Common law in England and Wales, and the different education structures of the two, the ‘UK’ umbrella is not in the EU, while France, for the meanwhile, remains EU.

So, if a leader of the governing Scottish party was bisexual, and had a relationship with a French diplomat, what is the relevance, if any? Is France friend or foe? That’s an ambivalent question for British politics, and if friend, then a liaison could not do too much damage. If foe, then all sorts of suspicions arise. With all the comment focused on whether the possible relationship was two women, never has this writer heard any discussion on the wider question of liaisons where both hold a great deal of state knowledge. Is someone padding around opening drawers, or nowadays flicking through a phone or laptop? Are French-UK relations that suspicious? Probably not. The suspicion of the UK is turned further eastwards nowadays. If there was a relationship – hypothetically let’s say – would that be a problem in the realms of state security?

Unfortunately with the loss of jurisprudence and reasoning in the UK political, legal, social, economic, just about every area now, the realm of governance and leadership as been reduced to as personal, as emotional, as unrelated as possible to a leader. The French, even with the horrendous case of recent times involving sexual practice, still the French have a way more practical attitude to the pyramid of life. The baseline is the physical things in life, and to be maintained, and the philosophy and reasoning and public offices able to perform their function without being put through the personal mill. Maybe it is because the baccalaureate curriculum ensures that school children are studying a variety of subjects right up to leaving school, and to have a 16 or 18 year old able to study philosophy, or some structure of thinking and discussing, it creates a different society to this morass of the personal in 2025 ‘UK’.

  • Leaders of nations, Leaders of tribes

President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin

In the current times where conflict is everywhere it seems, what’s in a name? The two men above are both Presidents of their respective jurisdictions, and both are often shortened to ‘Trump’ and ‘Putin’.

For this blog, which measures human activity to the baseline facts of Helios, Earth, and gravity, these times of complete and utter chaos in the human realm of the life zone on the planet called Earth are very illuminating. There is the western world, under the general umbrella of Christendom, and within that the overall division of Catholic and then all the variations which have come about since the 1500s, and the western world looks out onto the Middle East and China, which it could be said really generally still hold their own place as not being under Christendom or Empire. Sure the west drew lines through the Middle East with the resulting chaos now, but in belief and practices, still it can roughly be said that China and the ‘Middle East’ still maintain their own identity.

Where does that leave the northern latitudes? Scandinavia is seen as sort of pure, uncomplicated, practical, not the region which is generating this catastrophic dimming of the life zone, And Canada also, the great outdoors, vast wilderness, and any stresses between French and English are far over in Quebec. But in between those two is the might Russia, and this last week of news headlines is raising a question which this human finds deeply interesting.

The zone of conflict between Ukraine and Russia on a map is a fairly small area compared to the measurement of the land mass of Ukraine, and definitely a small area of the land mass of Russia. Information states that some in the conflict zone are Russian in heritage and language, and wish to be back within the perimeter of Russia. The fairly small conflict zone, to which most non Ukrainians or Russians have never been, is writ large on the agenda of the west, especially Britain who has been opinionating way above any functional ability.

The really useful thing about Donald Trump being the President of the USA is that a top down measurement is now placed in the western world, and of course therein lies the dividing line between those who hate him and those who admire him. For the point of view of this blog, the increasingly complicated conflicts are increasingly complicated because the baseline of Earth is not considered relevant anymore. And if it is, quickly the terms populist, racist, radicalised, extreme right wing are thrown about, because politics has so completely removed itself from Earth itself.

The two Presidents, of the USA and of Russia, are providing the clearest illumination on what is a leader, and on the different realities within the human zone in 2025. President Trump has spent several days in the mid latitude of Britain, from where this blog is physically written into the entirely tenuous digital realm (dependent on electricity, and which will disappear in a second along with the rest of digital tech at the first big Solar flare). This juxtaposition of the last week, with President Trump here, within latitude 55′-56’N, from where this writer inhabits, and ‘here’ because his ethnicity is half Scottish. He is also half German, which is not a million miles from the sites he visited, yet he is President of the USA, a vast land mass, until a few hundred years ago the lands of native tribes, as was all of Earth until a couple of thousand years ago, give or take some larger groupings in the Euphrates region and in what is now called South America. But all measured fully to Earth. Where else would they measure? And President Trump is certainly a leader, performing the role of a leader, and cutting through the bloated democratic west with the return of simple one liner facts. But he is still the President of a jurisdiction within the ‘west’, the major power of the ‘west’ actually, and it is the ‘west’ that engages and opinionates with the USA.

President Putin, now put as the one obstructing peace in Ukraine, is again the bad boy, even though it is said both men get on pretty well, which they would do, being both leaders in personality and ability. So, why this public impasse? Why has President Donald Trump found himself in this position of being unable to bring an end to the war in Ukraine? This blog is looking at governance from the baseline of Earth, which is governed by Helios and gravity, and so this last week has been endlessly fascinating. The question of where does power arise is in nature not something the participants have to ask or analyse, because it arises from within the life zone. The questions the two Presidents have to ask themselves are showing as either side of this line. President Putin only answers to the land and the people of the land, whereas President Trump answers to the land of America, but which is organised within the beliefs and practices of ‘the west’, and which is not ultimately measured to the land but to the zone of politics, and with that global trade, global movement of people, a dumbing down through the use of English as the common language, and the firm belief that digital tech will create a nirvana. Russia on the other hand, never does not believe that it is not land. If that sounds Irish (and it might do because this writer has quite a lot of Irish in it) that is meant to say that a Leader from the Land has less questions to ask and answer, because the land itself asks and answers the questions.

The impasse between the two Presidents is illuminating, and although the role of a leader is top down in every sense, it is the leader of a land who has the advantage of a pyramid base arising from geography while the leader arising from a western development of 500 years has only the top down. In this historical juncture with President Trump reasserting the need for clear jurisdictions and the welcome (for some of us) shake up that has been, who holds the cards in ‘a solution for the Ukrainian situation’? Will geography reassert itself, as the ultimate definer and arbitrator? Can another power ever successfully solve a regional zone, in which the ‘UK’ has its own going on that is for sure, and can one latitude arbitrate for another, one latitude which lives by heating and large appliances, while Russian latitudes can go all winter without heating and the ease of modern living. It’s a curious equation when the powers which criticize Russian leadership are dependent on buying the energy which is taking down the life zone, and the leader of the USA who is acting like a leader amidst the detritus of democracy ideals is the product of Scottish and German fortitude, along the same latitude, but born into the western realm which is now so truncated from geo-graphy. Who will prevail in the Ukraine situation? On the world as now a stage, it is revealing the baseline again, which has never changed.

  • Nuclear equality?

A Logical Blog asking Logical Questions

The Equality of no Nuclear. Over the early months of the year 2025 by the Gregorian calendar, President Trump raised the subject of nuclear weapons, saying, ‘There’s no reason for us to be building brand new nuclear weapons. We already have so many. You could destroy the world 50 times over.’

In February statements spoke of America, Russia and China, and the idea of nuclear arms control, and that was said from the American President, not from Russia and China, but it was put out there. Where is ‘out there’? Well, that is into the modern digital tech world, entirely dependent on electricity from big power stations down to the i-phone charger, and without which nothing now would run, not that world leaders consider that real baseline.

But out there it was stated, and then in early March President Trump told reporters that he was in favour of denuclearization amongst global powers. That would be the global powers who ‘have nuclear’, being the nine of America, China, Russia, France, the ‘UK’, North Korea, Israel, Pakistan and India.

The nuclear spectre raised its head as Pakistan and India faced each other, the world held its breath, which of course is a meaningless term because the natural world never follows news events on a digital screen and it is only the human stuck is this strange in between, and President Trump again took the role of a leader and some talking was done, and the nuclear button was not pressed over on the complicated border region between Pakistan and India. Phew.

Now the matter of nuclear weapons has swung the other way, not among the top dogs in the global realm who have this nuclear facility, but looking down the ladder, the same President Trump took on Iran with a smaller than could have been missile lobbed over, and Iran responded with a smaller than could have been, and possibly the heat was taken out of the explosive situation, for the time being. That’s clever leadership tactics too, because leaders should be engaging with each other in that mixture of talking for mutual benefit or engaging in a kind of thinking martial arts tactics because leadership is a difficult role, and for us masses, it is none of our business to sit and opinionate all day when we don’t have any responsibility.

This blog is not an opinion but a measurement, and as the question of nuclear arms has appeared in these various ways in the first half of this year, it would be a very good idea to freeze the frame and keep both directions on view, before they sink beneath the daily new events in this tragic human world. As 9 countries have nuclear weapons, and they are meant to be a deterrent, why should Iran not have one, or a few, too? The west says nuclear weapons aren’t safe in countries not part of the civilized western world, and already views North Korea as somewhere far out on the fringes of inclusion. But if nuclear weapons are a deterrent should not every jurisdiction have a nuclear? Then it would be an equal safety for all.

Looking the other way, up the ladder, to return to President Trump’s radical statements on denuclearisation made only a few months ago, will this be the paradigm missed in the modern era? If, on paper, a little diagram was doodled of the lower orders, seen as mad, bad and dangerous and who must at all costs be prevented from gaining these dangerous nuclear facilities, up through the perceived order of things to the major powers who believe they and their nukes hold the balance of peace, why can we not start at the top line instead of the bottom line?

As the ‘UK’ gears up to invest more in missile and arms manufacture, and talks of security in this dangerous age, yet at the same time relies on manufactured goods from all those countries who come in for the stinging criticism from the pious ‘UK’, and as gun boats were despatched to the Channel Islands to scare France, not so many years ago over fishing questions, the existence of nuclear weapons designed to obliterate the enemy only stands like a great towering mountain, brooding over the daily life below.

If President Tump followed though on his statements given out a few months ago on denuclearization amongst the global powers, what would the world look like, the human world that is? Or rather, if it was followed through to actual denuclearization? If no country has any nuclear weapons the top slice of stress would be evenly sliced off, the line brought down evenly instead of the see-saw reactions and this Russian roulette of friend or foe. If all jurisdictions were nearer ground level and the nuclear deterrent became a nuclear equality of no one has nuclear, how much aggravation would evaporate in international relations?

It would a really good weekend event if the leaders of the 9 met for a serious chat. Are we going to actually use a nuclear? If not, just come down and start the dismantling process. Such a move would show that global co-operation is possible, and maybe the best proof of all, and really there’s nothing to lose because no world leader would really want to go down in history as the one who pressed the button, not that anyone would know about it anyway after that, but still…not great if there is any posterity. But if a summit of 9 came out and announced that hereinafter the line of this towering aggravation will be now calmly taken down quite a few notches, what is there to lose? And there would be a lot to gain.

  • A Logical Blog

Trump -v- Iran – a Disaster Day for Logic?

Trump -v- Iran on Summer Solstice 2025 – a Disaster Day for Logic? What on Earth has happened this weekend? As Solar time remains the same as ever, human time has now gone mad. The news of a rapid escalation of ‘events’ in the ‘middle East’, the term given by the west because of the spin of the earth, spinning into Sunrise and where there is no middle because there is no beginning or end of a spin, is this the last nail in the coffin of logical government? Or, has President Donald Trump massively shot himself in the foot?

Is it the same man who somewhere back in February of this year said words to the effect that the USA had plenty of nuclear missiles ‘which could destroy the world 50 times over’ so why add more, and were there not noises of talks between President Trump, Russia and China about ‘de-nuclearization’? No more missiles is one thing, but a coming down, a de-nuclear, is, or was, possibly the most Logical action anyone could take in the human world in this present time. An open-handed action to bring a line down would have filtered down a great deal of other matters, like the biological world has a vast network of seen and unseen processes going on in the zone around one fact, and which the modern humans have well lost sight of.

In this muddling of geography, ethnicity, belief, historical let’s call them ‘matters’, not to mention the climate disaster (some call it change), and the imminent collapse of supply chains, water supply, etc., if President Trump had followed through on that comment of de-nuclearization, how much would that have filtered on down through the chaos going on? Intention is like the subtle zone in the biological realm, it is not quantifiable yet has a profound factual outworking.

The ‘middle East’ is geographically and ethnically neither western Europe nor the USA, which is its own landmass with ocean on both sides. It could be said that the nuclear issue is the nastiest of all controversies between the different political zones on Earth. In this crazy age of globalism where the ‘west’ seeks to bring (or impose) democracy and individual values on just about everywhere from North to South Pole and all around Earth, the nuclear issue stands totally opposite to that, the nuclear powers retain the right to err.. retain their nuclear weapons, while telling other countries (and where the divisions are already there in history, religion, culture) that they are very, very bad for wanting a nuclear weapon.

If nuclear weapons are so bad that some countries cannot have them, and the USA, or President Trump himself ordered, that Iran should be attacked without warning, then Logically the only solution is that probably now throw-away phrase (because it has been thrown away) of “de-nuclearization”. Why has this President who was overwhelmingly voted in for the hope that some common sense can be slotted into the last days of human existence on earth committed this completely idiotic act?

As well as heightening the nuclear issue with these ‘bad Iranians’, the credibility which President Trump had in restoring some common sense to trade (and apologies to all the hard working trades people who are affected by tariffs but overall, that is common sense and a pity the UK doesn’t have a leader who thinks of its own security) has now evaporated. Any people or any country which is humiliated, as Iran now is, doesn’t bow the knee and accept their wrongdoing, it only makes bad matters so much worse.

Nearly there was a nuclear button pressed between Pakistan and India, so recently, and it was the same President of the USA who quickly stepped in, and the world breathed a sigh of relief, disaster averted. Now the same President does this inflammatory and idiotic action in the middle East like a bull in a china shop.

As the UK does not have any, or not nearly enough, young people who could turn up to even train for a fighting army let alone go off and actually do it, and as there are nuclear weapons in the UK, this would be such a very good opportunity for the UK government to show it had some teeth and unilaterally announce that it is to disarm its nuclear weapons. Hypocracy is just the worst situation of all and on the principle of ‘if you don’t use it, then lose it’ which is usually used for cognitive brain exercises that if you don’t keep active then you lose your faculties, but applying that to nuclear weapons, if the UK are not intending to actually use the nuclear weapons then what’s the point of all that time, money and effort to maintain them, and the UK could be the first to both announce and act – the two together – that it is beginning to dismantle all nuclear facilities.

A long time ago philosophers from Damas, Cairo, Paris, London, would meet and discuss, and a long time ago the trading network on the major ports and inland networks from there, all took full account of difference in geography, culture, belief, language, the long history, and it was a vibrant and engaged world. That time has passed and will never again be possible, because the west has burnt the bridges behind and in front, but of all the actions which could put the widest and most pervasive signal that this high tide mark is very very bad, if President Trump had continued on the de-nuclearization idea and even if just an idea, instead of what has happened this Summer Solstice weekend, then maybe the tide would have turned back and something of a normal ebb and flow just might have held. Instead we have a tsunami of god knows what, and the concept of governance in shreds.

Thank goodness Solar times does still hold. The northern hemisphere on Earth is now going into shorter days, less Light, down to the Winter Solstice, from where the baby Light will be born and the days slowly slowly lengthen again. No hope of such predictability for the human realm now.
